Te Kāhui Matepukupuku o Aotearoa and Hei Āhuru Mōwai are continuing their partnership this year to award a round of Research Master's and PhD scholarships to Māori cancer researchers.
Te Kāhui Matepukupuku o Aotearoa (the Cancer Society of New Zealand) is a major funder of cancer research through its Research Grants Programme. Hei Āhuru Mōwai Māori Cancer Leadership Aotearoa is a network of nationally and internationally renowned Māori cancer experts who deliver indigenous expertise to cancer control in Aotearoa.
Applications opened on Tuesday 1 September and close on Friday 16 October 2026.
What is awarded
- Research Master's Scholarship, for one year: a stipend of $40,000 and tuition fees of $10,000.
- PhD Scholarship, for three years: a stipend of $45,000 a year, tuition fees of $10,000 a year, and a tikanga contribution of $10,000 across the award.
